The non-profit association Forum Artis was founded in 1971 in order to provide pipe organs to the Epiphany Church in the “rue de Genève” in Schaerbeek. The choice fell on an organ of Italian style built by Patrick Colon. (1984)

Actually this non-profit association organizes concerts, among others around the organ. One of his goals is to allow young musicians to perform in public.

To this end, three annual concerts are held during the musical season.

En 1896 la fabrique d’église de l’époque donna mission aux facteurs d’orgues ‘Van Bever frères’ de construire un nouvel orgue pour l’église néo-gothique Saint Pierre à Jette. Depuis sa constitution en 1880 cet atelier a été dirigé par les frères Adrien et Salomon Van Bever. Quand en 1895 Adrien meurt, son frère poursuit l’entreprise .La réputation que la firme et ses artisans expérimentés ont déjà réalisée est énorme Comme il était d’usage à l’époque, l’orgue a été construit dans un style romantique, ce qui - par excellence - le rend propre à l’exécution de la musique du 19e et début 20e siècle. Ils avaient d’ailleurs appris leur métier chez non moins qu’Hippolyte Loret et le facteur d’orgues parisien Cavaillé-Coll de réputation mondiale.

 Le 4 avril 1898, selon une vielle tradition,le Cardinal P.L.Goossens pouvait inaugurer l’orgue.Pour le récital ,organisé à cette occasion, ont signé quelques organistes réputés à savoir : François Marivoet, organiste de la Ste Gudule et de Ste Cathérine, Anselme Jans, qui venait d’être nommé organiste-titulaire et le célèbre compositeur August De Boeck, lequel à cette époque était l’organiste de l’église St Boniface à Ixelles.

’orgue contient deux claviers, un  clavier de pédales et 32 registres.

 es derniers travaux d’entretien remontent déjà à l’année 1964. Après 40 ans il était évident que l’accumulation de poussières et l’usage technique normal devait à miner à terme l’usage de l’orgue. D’autres travaux s’imposaient. En 2007, le facteur d’orgue Jean- Pierre Draps a établi un rapport détaillé. Comme successeur de la dynastie Van Bever il est considéré comme une autorité sur le plan de ce type d’instruments. Afin de les rendre réalisables sur le plan financier, il a été opté, en accord avec la fabrique d’église, de faire exécuter les travaux en quatre phases, étalées sur une période prévue de huit ans Au cours de l’hiver 2008 la première phase a été exécutée, portant sur la tuyauterie et la mécanique du ‘Récit’. Le 20 décembre 2010 a débuté la deuxième phase, d’ailleurs la plus importante, portant sur la tuyauterie et la mécanique du ‘Grand Orgue ‘Dans l’avenir il reste encore pas mal de travaux à faire. Ainsi, tout doucement, mais sûrement, cet orgue retrouve son ancienne gloire, pour le bonheur de ceux qui l’écoutent et d’avantage pour ceux qui peuvent le tenir.

The great organ of the church of St-Servais in Schaerbeek, masterpiece of the neo-classic organ building, was built in 1953 by the German organbuilder KLAIS, according to the ideas of the Benedictine organologue Dom Joseph KREPS.

He was inaugurated on January 31st, 1954 by his titular, Paul ERALY.

From 1955 till 1963, recitals were given by prestigious organists: André MARCHAL, Gaston LITAIZE, Flor PEETERS, Helmut WALCHA, Marie-Claire Alain, Pierre COCHEREAU and Jean-Jacques GRUNENWALD. Afterward, concerts will more seldom become in consequence to the change of esthetic taste in the organ world, and in consequence to the lack of maintenance of the instrument.

In April, 1987, upon the arrival of the new titular organist Léon KERREMANS was the organ in very sad condition. The Church council being lacking of resources could not - and cannot at the moment yet - to face up to works of restoration, nor even to the common maintenance.

Not seeing other exit, Léon KERREMANS, putting into practice his knowledge of expert in organ building, realized himself in several years this labor of Benedictine. Nobody (except for an organ builder) can measure the real scale of this work . This way is - and stays - the organ of Saint-Servais today completely functional, and his condition is very satisfactory.

However, the accumulation of dust since almost 50 years did not any more allow to tune the organ without risking to damage the pipework, which is of very high quality and in a state of remarkable preservation. After 15 years, the concert organization (supported faithfully by alderman Claude PAULET, president of the Tourist Information Office of Schaerbeek) having allowed to put some money aside, was it possible to call on the firm KLAIS for works.

In July 2002, by assistance of a worker of the firm KLAIS was it proceeded to a big dust removal followed by a general tuning. After these works (a real Marathon!) found the organ its power and the purity of its tones again. This way was it possible honorably to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the inauguration of the organ.

Taking up with the tradition of the years 1955-1963, Léon KERREMANS took care of the organization of recitals from 1987. First years, there was a single recital. Since 1992, there are every year two recitals in autumn, the one by the titular organist, the other one by an guest organist.

The Committee for protection and development of the organ of the church of St Servais in Schaerbeek is formed by members of Church council and of the Parochial team around the titular organist.

Jacques Giroul, President, Adrienne Bardos, Martine Maillard Genevieve Kluyskens Edward Houtart, are the directors of Organum Novum npo and simultaneously the first people to participate in the development and implementation of projects.
